Position Type: Non-exempt, Temporary, Part-time. Compensation is $15-$20/hour.
Location: Dallas/ AUSTIN/Houston area
Schedule: 5-20 hours a week

Organization Overview:

South Asian American Voter Empowerment of Texas Education Fund (“SAAVETX EF”), a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy, is a Texas non-profit organization that is driven by our mission to strengthen voter engagement infrastructure in Texas by expanding our political consciousness by educating and empowering our electorate. SAAVETX EF provides a positive working environment where volunteers, staff, and the Board of Directors believe that voter empowerment of South Asian Americans in Texas is beneficial to our state, our country, our democracy, and our community.

Position Overview:

South Asian American Voter Empowerment of Texas Education Fund is seeking a highly motivated individual to act as a canvasser. Under the direct supervision of the Programs Coordinator, canvassers will be responsible for carrying out a robust Voter Registration, Mail-In Ballot, and Get Out the Vote campaign for the November 2024 elections. Canvassing positions will begin on a rolling basis and end in November 2024.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Canvas South Asian American and AAPI communities via phone calls, text messages, and door to door visits

  • Responsible for engaging with targeted individuals with the goal of encouraging South Asian Americans to vote in the 2024 elections

  • Comply with the required reporting process, stringent tracking

  • Enter data while engaging in voter contact and navigate online programs

  • Ensure quality voter education through the use of scripts, data review, and frequent check-in meetings

  • Represent SAAVETX EF at a high-quality level of spoken and written communications

Qualifications:

  • 18 or over

  • Reliable transportation. Driver’s license and own vehicle are required.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Collaborative and able to work with a team to achieve goals

  • Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to follow verbal instructions

  • Can work flexible hours and on weekends

  • Commitment to immigrant rights, nonprofit capacity building, voter engagement, and civil and human rights is a bonus.

  • Language ability in Hindi, Urdu, or some other Indian or Asian language is preferred
