Why South Asians Matter in Texas
The South Asian community in Texas, though 4% of the population, is a vital force in shaping the state’s future. Their growing political influence can ensure that policies reflect community-specific needs like immigration, education, and healthcare. Economic contributions from South Asian businesses and professionals strengthen Texas’s economy and create jobs. Supporting and representing this community builds an inclusive Texas where all voices are valued and empowered.

South Asian turnout in 2020 broke records in Texas. SAAVETX EF galvanized the first statewide effort to unify South Asians, establishing the largest South Asian movement in the state of Texas. Driven by our mission to build South Asian American political engagement, we ran innovative and multi-pronged campaigns to engage voters in key counties across Texas. For too long we have been overlooked and underrepresented. Our army of volunteers strengthened local infrastructure expanding our political consciousness by educating and empowering our electorate. Our year-round activities over the last five years have proven to Texas we are a trusted proven community partner in mobilizing South Asian Americans. We are a political force that cannot be ignored. Join our movement.

South Asians and AAPIs are often underrepresented and overlooked. On March 9th we changed that. We made history! We hosted the first Desi Day of Action with our partner, Impact, at the Capitol. Such a proud moment to see so many Desis at the Capitol. We took buses from DFW and Houston, and people drove from San Antonio and Austin. We rounded up almost 60 South Asian advocates! We visited 140 offices introducing legislators to the South Asian community. We advocated for better schools, healthcare, voting rights, and religious freedom.
We are the fastest-growing minority community in Texas; we have a considerable impact on the economy and strive for an inclusive Texas.
We also got recognized on the floor to declare a Desi Day of Action! By Salman Bhojani and Dr. Suleman Lalani! Thank you! We are so proud of both of them making history as the first South Asians to be elected to the Texas House!

OCA Greater Houston Woori Juntos 우리 훈또스 Asian Texans for Justice SAAVE TX Education Fund and Impact to bring over 100 AAPIS to the Capitol to amplify our voices.
We came with our individual stories to amplify a collective voice for more diversity and inclusivity in Texas. We advocated for better schools, language access, and inclusive education for our children. We amplified our voices and bought our culture to the Capitol. The sound and beat of Korean Drums and Bollywood dancers rang through the Capitol grounds. We stand united to urge Texas lawmakers to shape our state into a world-class example of inclusivity and diversity

SAAVETX EF made tremendous strides in 2022 in growing and reaching out to voters. We received a matching grant in recognition of our accomplishments. This is the first time money has been invested in South Asian outreach in Texas. We are asking for your help in building the important infrastructure needed to make sure every South Asian voter can access the polls. Help us educate voters, build a stronger youth network, and overcome voting barriers in Texas.
Your tax deductible donation will greatly benefit our organization and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

We are South Asian American Voter Empowerment of Texas Education Fund (SAAVETX EF). Our organization is dedicated to lifting the voices of our diverse South Asian American community to the halls of governance. Our mission is to register to vote for all South Asians in Texas so that they may actively participate in our democracy.
Through community outreach and education, we seek to drive every voter to the poll for every election so that our collective voices are heard at the seats of power. We embrace the diversity of thought in our community and work to have our manifold ideologies represented at the polls. We do so by providing resources for voter registration and information about the voting process including topics such as absentee voting, voting deadlines, and poll locations.
Through these activities, we empower the South Asian community of Texas to enrich our state with our active participation in the democratic system.
