Location: DFW area, some work from home permitted, some travel required.

South Asian American Voter Empowerment of Texas Education Fund’s (SAAVETX EF) mission is to strengthen voter engagement in Texas by educating and empowering our electorate. SAAVETX EF provides a positive environment where volunteers, staff, and the Board of Directors believe that voter engagement and empowerment of South Asian Americans in Texas is beneficial to our community, our state, our country, and our democracy. SAAVETX EF is a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Position Overview:
SAAVETX EF is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as our Program Director to assist with the design and execution of our programs. The Program Director will work closely with other SAAVETX EF employees and volunteers for the planning and implementation of projects. The projects will include program areas: civic engagement, get out the vote, voter education, brand building, social media, community engagement, volunteer training, and development. This position is ideal for applicants who are self-starters with strong organizational skills, a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, flexibility for evening and weekend events, strong communication skills, cultural competency working with the South Asian American populations, experience with program/project management, and an interest in serving underserved populations and communities of color. Remote work and flextime schedules that meet objectives can be accommodated.
Primary Job Functions:
Excellent skills in project management and facilitation, including establishing goals and timetables, tactical plans, securing and coordinating resources, monitoring progress, engaging and working with other personnel or teams, measuring results, developing contingencies, and reporting out.
Ability to work well with voters, volunteers, and partners regardless of position and authority, contribute to governing boards and committees and adhere to clear lines of responsibility and accountability.
Outstanding ability to establish meaningful connections, and collaborate with South Asian communities, as well as engaging with allies and partners from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds
Demonstrated aptitude for guiding discussions and orchestrating meetings that result in positive, quantifiable outcomes, tailored to SAAVETX's mission and goals
Ability and motivation to develop creative solutions to complex, interpersonal, process, and systemic challenges;
Excellent judgment and decision-making skills; makes decisions in accordance with SAAVETX EF mission, values, and goals; perceives items and issues that are of great importance and initiates action proactively and within appropriate boundaries;
Proficiency in gathering, structuring, evaluating, and deciphering data and information, along with a commitment to the ongoing enhancement of programs for increased efficiency and productivity
Flexibility to modify work approaches and methodologies in reaction to new insights, evolving circumstances, or unanticipated challenges, enabling SAAVETX to adjust to the organization's changing requirements effectively
Develop, implement, and refine the organization's GOTV strategy to maximize voter engagement and turnout, Plan and execute targeted voter outreach initiatives, including phone banking, canvassing, and social media campaigns, Coordinate activities for Election Day,
Strong management abilities to successfully recruit, retain, inspire, and lead volunteers in the pursuit of voter mobilization. Establish and nurture robust neighborhood teams, guaranteeing their inclusive representation, engagement, and overall effectiveness.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of relevant work experience in the nonprofit, elections, voter engagement or civil rights arena, preferred
Proficiency in computer skills, including data management, data analysis, spreadsheet and database tracking systems
Strong interpersonal, time-management, project management, written and oral communication skills
Cultural competency with immigrants and/or underserved communities, experience with the South Asian American community
Ability to plan and manage teams to work effectively and independently to meet goals
Must have Internet access, working computer, access to reliable transportation, ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
Lead programs that inspire and empower paid and volunteer staff
Oversee, evaluate, and improve structures and process
Familiarity and knowledge of the Texas and/or civic engagement landscape a plus
Proficiency with the following applications: voter database systems (VAN or other) Reach, Everyaction, Excel, Social Media, Website management
Some travel is required
Bilingual in a South Asian language, such as Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Urdu, or other languages, and English preferred
Outstanding skills and abilities in verbal and written communications; ability to adapt a style to fit audiences of varying technical levels, and at various levels within an organization, in large groups and individual settings
Excellent skills in consensus-building, persuasion, negotiation and influence, including the ability to navigate in a complex political environment; ability to inspire trust in others and use influence and social capital to drive initiatives;
